May 25, 2026 — Smarter Shuffle Again & Mobile Improvements
What's new
🔀 Shuffle Again now reshuffles in place
Clicking "Shuffle Again" on a result card now immediately fetches a new game using your current filters — without collapsing back to the filter form. A dice-roll overlay appears while the new pick loads, so you always know something is happening. The card then pops in with a fresh animation when the result arrives.
✕ X button now returns to filters
The close button (top-right X) now clearly separates from "Shuffle Again" — it takes you back to the filter form so you can adjust your mood, session length, or genre picks without triggering a reshuffle.
🎨 Shuffle Again button redesigned
The "Shuffle Again" button now matches the vibrant cyan-to-pink gradient of the main Shuffle button so it stands out as a primary action instead of blending into the background.
📱 "View on Steam" on mobile
On mobile devices the Launch button is replaced by a "View on Steam" button that opens the game's Steam store page directly. The redundant "View store page" text link at the bottom of the card is hidden on mobile to keep the layout clean.

April 15, 2026 — Pin Tiers, Progress Dashboard & Pro Upgrades
What's new
📌 Free & Pro Pin Tiers (Pro)
Pinning a game is now available to everyone, with a clear tier split. Free users can pin any game for 12 hours — great for keeping tonight's pick front and center. Pro users get permanent pins with no expiry, so you can commit to a game and track your progress right in the app until you're done.
⏱️ Live pin countdown
Free users now see a live "Unpins in Xh Ym" countdown next to their pinned game on the Dashboard and Progress pages.
🏆 XP & Slayer Rank on the Progress page
The Progress Dashboard now leads with your Slayer Rank card — your current rank name, XP bar, and how much XP you need to level up. Complete games to earn XP, rank up through the tier list, and keep your streak alive. Your share card and library stats sit below the rank card so the most exciting number is always the first thing you see.
📤 Share Progress — moved & spaced
The Share Progress card now sits directly below your Rank card, making it easy to brag about your latest rank-up. Extra breathing room between the share card and the Library Stats section keeps the page from feeling cramped.
Bug fixes & polish
• Pin endpoint no longer requires a Pro subscription to call — free users are correctly limited to 12h server-side instead of being blocked at the gate.
• Permanent pin copy in the paywall modal was updated to accurately reflect what Pro users get.
• Pin button label now shows "Pin for 12h" for free users and "Pin" for Pro users so the tier difference is obvious before you tap.
Release v1.2.1 Notes
April 7, 2026 — Library History, unsnooze & UX polish
What's new
📚 Library History page
A new /library page lets you review all your completed and snoozed games in one place. Browse cover art, completion dates, and playtime for finished titles, or see how long until a snoozed game resurfaces. Accessible from the top nav under Library History.
↩️ Unsnooze games from Library History
Changed your mind about a snoozed game? Hit the new Resume button in the Snoozed tab to bring it back to your pending completions instantly — no need to wait for the 30-day snooze to expire.
💾 Snooze now persists to the database
Dismissing a pending completion card with "No, Still Grinding" now saves your snooze server-side for 30 days, so it stays dismissed across devices and browser sessions.
🎬 Snappier Roll Credits modal
The DLC screen now appears sooner, making the post-completion flow feel much faster.
🔔 What's New badge in the menu
A cyan dot now appears on your profile avatar whenever there are release notes you haven't seen. Open the dropdown and click What's New to mark them as read. No more missing updates.
Bug fixes
• Snoozed pending completions now correctly respect the 30-day window server-side rather than relying on localStorage.
• Library History pending completions count now loads in parallel with completed and snoozed lists, reducing page load time.
Release v1.2.0 Notes
April 1, 2026 — Metacritic scores, genre search & completion tracking
What's new
⭐ Metacritic scores on shuffle results
Each game card now displays its Metacritic score in a badge at the top-left corner. See critical reception at a glance to help decide if a game is worth your time. Scores only appear when available for the game. In a future release, for smart shuffle expect Metacritic scores to also influence shuffle suggestions based on your preferences.
🔍 Genre search in Smart Shuffle
Pro users can now search within the genre filter list instead of scrolling through dozens of tags. Type to find your favorite genres instantly, making it faster to customize your shuffle by mood and style.
💡 Why this game? explanations
Shuffle results now explain why each game was chosen based on your playtime, time-to-beat estimate, session mode, and selected genres. Transparency helps you understand the logic behind each suggestion.
✅ Mark games complete directly from the card
When a game appears in shuffle results and you've played it long enough to beat it, a "Done — Mark as Complete" button appears. Tap it to finish a game without leaving the shuffle flow. Completed games won't appear in future shuffles.
🎨 Improved shuffle card layout
Redesigned result cards to surface more useful information at a glance: bigger titles, clearer genre tags, playtime history, and session-time estimates now have a streamlined layout.
Bug fixes
• Genre affinity weights now correctly reset for new users starting Smart Shuffle for the first time.
• Fixed rare edge case where dismissed results would reappear on reshuffle.
• Completion button now properly respects Metacritic badge positioning on mobile.

March 26, 2026 — Smart Shuffle & genre filters
What's new
⭐ Smart Shuffle (Pro)
Pro users can now filter by genre using the new Advanced Filters panel (step 3). Select one or more genre chips and Backlog Shuffle will route your request through the Smart Shuffle engine — an affinity-weighted random pick that learns which genres you enjoy most over time. Vibe, session length, and platform are all applied as hard filters so results always match your selection.
Genre affinity learning
Every time you accept a suggestion or reshuffle, Backlog Shuffle adjusts per-genre weights behind the scenes. Genres you engage with get surfaced more often; genres you skip drift back toward neutral. Weights are stored per-user.
Genre backfill on sync
Games that were already in your library before this update will have their genre tags automatically populated the next time you run a manual sync (or on the next nightly sync). No action required on your part.
Bug fixes
• Smart Shuffle now correctly applies vibe as a hard filter (previously it was only a soft boost, allowing off-vibe results to appear).
• Session-length mode (Quick / Evening / Deep) is now respected by Smart Shuffle.
• Platform filter is now applied in Smart Shuffle queries.
Release v1.0.3 Notes
March 20, 2026 — Improvements and fixes
Highlights
Shuffle selection improvements
We tuned the shuffle selection to give a more balanced experience: you should see fewer immediate repeats for smaller libraries while keeping results pleasantly random for larger collections.
Faster library sync
Library syncs should now complete much faster, and reduce the time it takes to fully load your library. This should be most noticeable for users with large libraries and/or slower connections.
Match count on results
Shuffle results now show how many games matched your filters (for example, "Showing 1 of 12 results"), so you can see the breadth of choices behind each suggestion.
Small polish & stability fixes
Minor UI tweaks and stability updates to make Shuffle feel snappier and more reliable.
How this affects you
If you have a small-to-medium library, you should notice suggestions feel less repetitive while remaining surprising. If you have a large library, the behavior remains largely random but more fair to recently-unseen games.
The result card now explicitly shows how many matches were considered in the filters you've selected.
Feedback
Love it or think it could be better? Send feedback from the feedback button in the footer or top menu. We're working on making the BacklogShuffle experience even better for you!
