The number of consecutive days you've launched a game through Backlog Shuffle. Launch at least one game per day to keep your streak alive. Missing a day resets it back to 1 on your next play. For the free tier you'll have to manually resync when you've played a game however as long as you launch a game your progress is saved until your next refresh.

Games in your Steam library with zero recorded playtime. Steam reports these as having 0 minutes played. This number updates every time you sync your library.

The total number of games in your Steam library that Backlog Shuffle has synced. This includes both played and unplayed titles across all playtime ranges.

When you sync your library, an AI agent analyzes each untagged game's title and assigns it a mood (Chill, Sweaty, Immerse Me, or Brainless) and an estimated time-to-beat in minutes. This is what powers the Shuffle. Games are tagged in batches of 10 per sync — subsequent syncs continue tagging until everything is classified.

You pick a mood and a time budget. Backlog Shuffle queries your library for games matching both filters, then picks one at random. It also detects your OS and filters to games that actually run on your platform, so you'll never get a Windows-only game suggested on a Mac.

Chill: laid-back, low-pressure games you can play half-asleep (walking sims, puzzle games, cozy RPGs). Sweaty: competitive or mechanically demanding games that need your full attention. Story: games with compelling narratives or rich immersive worlds. Brainless: repetitive or arcade-style games great for autopilot sessions.

Quick Session (⚡) shows pick-up-and-play games best enjoyed in under 30 minutes — roguelikes, racing, puzzle games, and other session-friendly titles. Free Evening (🌙) covers games suited for a solid 1–3 hour sit-down. Deep Dive (🌊) surfaces longer games that reward extended sessions or demand a real time commitment.

Sync whenever you've bought new games or want your playtime stats refreshed. Syncing also resumes AI tagging — if you have a large library, it may take a few consecutive syncs to classify everything. The tagging progress bar at the top of the app shows how many games are still unclassified. If you want to have overnight syncs while you sleep, enable automatic nightly syncs in Backlog Pro.

When you've clocked enough hours in a game to have likely beaten it (≥ 90% of the estimated time-to-beat), Backlog Shuffle surfaces a nudge card asking if you finished it. Tap "Yes, Roll Credits!" to mark it done, or "Still Grinding" to snooze the prompt for 24 hours. Games with very low playtime won't appear here so you'll only see meaningful prompts.

Marking a game complete triggers a confetti celebration showing your total playtime. After a couple of seconds it checks for available DLC — if the game has any, you'll see deals with cover art, prices, and discount badges. Clicking "Get Deal" opens an external store link. If there's no DLC, you'll get a button to shuffle your next game right away.

Found a game you want to play tonight but can't launch right now? Hit "Pin for later" on the shuffle result and it'll stick to the top of your dashboard for 12 hours with a countdown timer. From the pin banner you can launch the game directly via Steam or unpin it early. Only one game can be pinned at a time.

When viewing a shuffle result or your pinned game, the "Launch Game" button opens the game directly through Steam using a steam:// link. This also records a launch event on your account — it counts toward your Play Streak and helps Backlog Shuffle track which games you've tried.

After you mark a game as complete, Backlog Shuffle checks if it has purchasable DLC on Steam. If it does, you'll see up to five DLC items with their current prices and any active discounts. It's a convenient way to keep the fun going for a game you just finished.
