Yes — Backlog Shuffle uses Steam's official read-only OpenID login, which means we never see or store your Steam password at any point. We only receive your public Steam ID, which we use to read your game library and playtimes via Steam's public API. We have no ability to make purchases, modify your account, or take any action on your behalf. You can revoke access at any time from your Steam account settings.
Does Backlog Shuffle work on Steam Deck?
Backlog Shuffle is a fully responsive web app that works great in the Steam Deck's browser. Log in with your Steam account, pick a mood and a time window, and get a recommendation in seconds. The one-click launch button launches directly through Steam, though direct game launching requires a desktop or desktop mode on Deck.
How is Backlog Shuffle different from just hitting "random" in my Steam library?
SteamDB's random pick has no context about how you're feeling or how much time you have. Backlog Shuffle filters by session length using real HowLongToBeat completion data, matches your current mood and genre preferences, and — for Pro users — builds a personal affinity profile so results improve over time. It also skips games you've already marked complete, so you're always looking at a genuine backlog.
What do I get for free vs. upgrading to Pro?
The free tier gives you unlimited shuffles, lets you filter by mood and time, sync up to 100 Steam games, and pin a game for up to 12 hours. How do I shuffle if nothing is syncing?
If nothing is syncing, make sure you change your privacy settings on Steam to allow your game library to be visible. Allow a day for the changes to take effect. Otherwise, Backlog Shuffle won't be able to access your games. If you still see nothing contact Steam for assistance.
